Jaishree’s Arakku Kanchipuram Silk

Jaishree wore a stunning Arakku (deep maroon) Kanchipuram silk saree from the famed temple town — a piece that holds deep sentimental value. This beauty is from her personal collection and was lovingly picked out with her mother at the Co-Optex store for her engagement.

Avanti’s Timeless Wedding Elegance

Avanti wore one of her most cherished sarees — a beautiful Kanchipuram silk from her Vratham ceremony (pre-wedding ritual in Tamil Brahmin weddings). The deep red drape, woven with subtle self-floral patterns, held a quiet richness, while the broad, multi-colored border added a vibrant pop of celebration.

More than just a stunning outfit, it was a piece filled with memories — a nod to a special chapter in her life. Elegant yet full of personal meaning, Avanti’s look was a lovely blend of tradition, color, and sentiment.

Wrapped in Heritage - Varsha Saketharaman

Varsha wore a pastel yellow Kalamkari Kanchipuram silk saree, adorned with intricate motifs of peacocks and flowers. She says, “The peacock has always held a special place in my heart — a symbol of grace, beauty, and pride that I’ve long admired and intentionally woven into my wardrobe over the years.”

This saree is more than just a garment; it’s a celebration of heritage. Kalamkari is more than technique — it’s a living tradition, where every brushstroke and block print carries the soul and story of the artisan behind it. Divya’s Kolam-Inspired Elegance

Divya, our talented Kolam artist, who brings her art to life not just on the ground but in her wardrobe too! She wore a striking Kanchipuram silk saree in a unique combination of paaku (areca nut) brown and bright pink, adorned with intricate kolam motifs woven throughout — a tribute to the sacred geometry she so passionately creates.

The saree featured a grand pallu that added to its traditional richness, and Divya elevated the ensemble with a custom-made blouse, exquisitely embroidered with kolam designs, mirroring the patterns she’s known for.

Her look was a perfect blend of heritage and personal expression, carrying forward the elegance of South Indian textiles with the grace and symbolism of Kolam art.

Ratnaji adorned a classic MSBlue Mysore Crepe Silk Saree, a classic MS Blue that is a staple in South Indian wardrobes.

The jewel tone of the saree and the breezy comfort shone through with Ratnaji’s drape. A contrast color blouse is a very standard curation for these gorgeous crepe beauties, as we can see with the maroon on Ratnaji. 

A trademark classic, Ratnaji adorns a classic Mysore silks are just as we see here, bold jewels tones, modern lines and classic borders and minimalist style on the pallu. The zari border in an authentic  KSIC Mysore silk saree has the  trademark of real silver and gold in the weave.

In celebration of friendship and a mutual love for textiles, Jennifer wears Radha’s wedding collection vaira oosi red Mysore silk saree. The saree is a custom mysore silk, with gold thread running all over the saree, with a minimalist and modern checkered pallu. 

To have patrons to celebrate South Indian classic weaves, particularly the famous Mysore silk elegance is a joy to Sthahlam.

The perfect weave on the hot June weather, the crepe silk sarees was flowing and picking up the slightest wind at the park and parade. Similar to Ratnaji, Jennifer pairs the red crepe silk with a contrast jewel tone green blouse, a common curation with Mysore silk saree.

Anandi is in a heritage Venkatgiri Jamdani expressing artistry, identity, and inheritance.

Anandi writes, “Wrapped in devotion and heritage, I wore a Venkatagiri Jamdani revival saree — a masterpiece that carries the legacy of generations. The pallu, delicately adorned with Krishna playing his flute, surrounded by mesmerized cows, is a living story woven in silk and thread whispering tales of love, nature, and dharma !

Wearing this saree feels like draping myself in poetry — soft, fluid, and timeless. It carries the echoes of ancient traditions and the delicate artistry of master weavers who have kept this craft alive through centuries of change. Radha wore a cotton silk kattam motif purple and red saree. Paired with a purple velvet jacket, this saree ensemble was curated for the parade. Draped to showcase the contrast pallu with classic coin motif border all over. The saree is lightweight and was perfect for the hot weather in the park. 

Radha has been slowly but surely collecting handcrafted textilesthat are made of natural fiber and allow for breathability while being beautiful. In a world of fast fashion and mass produced clothes, she seeks a path to collect and curate pieces to remain in her closet for generations.

Radha has experienced the saree to be a power garment, yet elegant, beautiful and versatile to suit everyone’s unique personality. She loves how it offers her a creative outlet to express her identity as a South Indian immigrant in the USA.
